PACKING TYPES FOR LAUREL LEAVES - BAY LEAVES FROM TURKEY

Dried laurel leaves (bay leaf) is one of the main forestry export product of Turkey. Turkey is one of the biggest exporter of dried bay leaves and offers A grade products to world market. Besides the product quality, packing is also important for products to be transported and delivered to the customer as ordered.

Laurel leaves can be packed in pressed bales. This is the optimum way for transportation. In pressed bales, 8 tons of laurel leaves can be placed in a 20 ft fcl and 20 tons of laurel leaves can be placed in a 40 ft fcl. (if the pressed bales are 50 kgs nett weight.) Although its the optimum way for transportation, its not the best way to keep the leaves whole.

FAQ grade and also semi selected (by machine) grade laurel leaves can be pressed in bales. While pressing process unfortunately rate of broken leaves will increase. Sample photos of 25 kgs and 50 kgs pressed bales of bay leaves are shown as below.

 

Semi hand selected and hand selected (hand picked) products are not suitable for pressed-bale packing. Hand selected products are preferred because they are A grade products with whole leaves. These whole leaves would be broken while packing in pressed bales. Thats why we offer our hand picked and semi hand picked products in 10 kgs cardboard boxes. Sample photos of cardboard box packing type is shown below.

Ground laurel leaves (bay leaf in powder form) is also an export product of Turkey and can be packed in 10 kgs of kraft bags.

 Packing material should be compatible with the food products.
